The Performance Plus Wood Fish Puerto Rican Guiro is 14.5" long and includes its own scraper. The guiro produces a ratchet-like sound from parallel ridges cut in one side. You play it by rubbing a scraper (included) across the ridges. This guiro is designed with finger and thumb holes in the middle and is hollow on one end for sound projection. The guiro is a percussion instrument commonly used in Latin-American music. This guiro is hand painted with Salsa flair.
